B2B MARKETING FOR TECHNICAL INDUSTRIES
Your industry
is complex.
Your message
shouldn't be.
Work used to come by word of mouth. Now buyers check your website and LinkedIn before they call. KLD Marketing is a B2B marketing consultancy run by Kristy Dodd, working with construction, civil, infrastructure and engineering businesses across Newcastle and the Hunter. I write content and articles built for AI search visibility, manage LinkedIn and set marketing direction, so what a buyer finds reflects what your business can actually do.
THE APPROACH
Marketing that understands
your world
Most businesses in technical industries were built on reputation and relationships. For a long time, that was enough. It's less reliable now. Buyers search before they call. They check your website, look at your LinkedIn, ask Gemini or ChatGPT and form a view before anyone picks up the phone. If what they find doesn't reflect your capability, you're losing work you don't know you're losing.
Ten years inside infrastructure, engineering, and government means the context is already understood. When you talk about community consultation on a major works project, prying a case study out of an engineer who'd rather just get on with the job, or navigating a market where everyone knows everyone, I already know what you mean.
The work gets done too. When a plan is needed, it comes with deliverables to back it up. The LinkedIn post that gets published, the case study that highlights what you're actually capable of and a web page that doesn't just read like a laundry list of capabilities. I guide direction, set the standard and pull up my sleeves to chip in the work.
How we work together
Need help with website content, LinkedIn, or marketing strategy in Newcastle?
There are three ways to work with KLD. Content and case study writing for B2B and technical businesses. LinkedIn content management for companies that don't have the time to maintain their own profile. And Senior Marketing Direction for businesses that need senior strategic oversight.
CONTENT WRITING
Content and case study writing
Web pages, case studies, thought leadership, and project announcements. Written for your industry, structured for search.
I know your industry
You work in an industry that is technical, regulated, and often public. I've spent my career inside it, which is why businesses in construction, civil, engineering, and resources hire KLD Marketing rather than an agency that needs a briefing first.
Mining Resources
Technical complexity, community relations, and regulatory sensitivities. I understand all of it, including what happens when things go wrong and the message still has to go out.
Infrastructure & Construction
Long projects, multiple stakeholders, and significant community impact. Much of that work comes through councils, and I have sat on the council side of the table, so I know what makes a business credible well before a tender is advertised.
Local & State Government
Balancing transparency, politics, and public trust takes careful judgement. Residents want plain answers. Media want a quote they can use. Getting that right consistently takes someone who has been in the room.
Engineering & Technical Services
Exceptional technical capability deserves marketing to match. I translate what you do and why it matters into content that lands with the people making decisions.
ABOUT
Kristy Dodd
Founder and Principal Strategist
I've spent 10 years working alongside the people who run technically complex organisations in Newcastle and the Hunter region. From Mayors, councillors, CEOs and Directors to Engineers, Project Managers and tradies on site who live and breathe the work every day.
What those environments teach you is that good marketing has to work within the real constraints of a business. Limited time from leadership, internal teams that need to get on board, and decision makers who need to understand why something matters before they'll back it.
The work here is practical, clear, and built around what's actually possible. Deliverables that people can see and use, not strategies that sit in a drawer.
My background covers a lot of ground: local government, financial services, engineering, infrastructure. That breadth is probably my biggest asset. I'm as comfortable having a conversation on a worksite as I am presenting to a board.
I hold a Bachelor of Communications from Griffith University and a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management.
